About The Role

Whisper Aero is looking for a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer capable of scaling our manufacturing capacity from small batches to a fully functioning production line, capable of shipping hundreds and then thousands of units annually. This role involves being the manufacturing voice during design reviews, authoring work instructions, documenting processes, implementing standardization, designing tooling, and enhancing process efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Build prototype mechanical assemblies.
  • Operate and maintain rapid prototyping equipment, including FDM and SLA 3D printers.
  • Provide recommendations for assembly and rapid prototyping improvement.
  • Set up and test electronic equipment, including avionics and batteries.
  • Assist in setting up large-scale test stands and test stations.
  • Participate in data collection during testing phases.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Person status requirements for handling export-controlled data.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a professional technical environment.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and CAD models to produce precision parts.
  • Experience in programming, setup, and operation of various rapid prototyping machines.
  • Proven background in complex mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency in general and precision hand tools (calipers, digital Wiha’s, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.
  • Experience in a fast-paced design environment.
  • CAD proficiency (Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred).
  • Familiarity with Formlabs, Raise3D, and Prusa 3D printers.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a range of electronics tools (optical scanners, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.).
  • Experience with high voltage batteries, electric motors, and controllers.
  • Background in aerospace and drone technology.
