What you’ll bring to the team:
- Strategic Financial Partner for R&D: Become a trusted advisor to R&D senior leadership, providing financial insights and guidance aligned with strategic priorities. Collaborate closely with R&D executives to understand their challenges, goals, and resource needs. Proactively identify opportunities to optimize R&D spending, mitigate financial risks, and maximize the return on investment.
- Process Optimisation and Automation: Lead the development and execution of a strategy to enhance automation and forecasting efficiency. Oversee systems, people, and infrastructure to support R&D departments growth at Observe.AI.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Maintain and improve communication routines to provide data-driven recommendations that support R&D planning and decision-making. This includes distributing KPI reports, managing Risk & Opportunity schedules, and developing ad-hoc analyses as needed.
- Project Leadership: Lead finance-related projects and initiatives within R&D, including process improvements and headcount planning. Represent FP&A in partnering with R&D teams on monthly forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning processes.
- Industry Expertise: Maintain a strong understanding of the industry landscape, including market trends around R&D Expense as a % of Revenue in SaaS companies.
Who you are:
- Experienced Finance Professional: 5+ years of experience in financial roles, with a significant portion spent supporting R&D and infrastructure functions in a SaaS environment.
- Strong Business Acumen: Proven ability to develop and improve financial processes, systems, and controls to meet the needs of a high-growth business.
- Collaborative and Influential: Demonstrated success building strong business partner relationships with R&D leadership. Use financial analysis to influence strategic decisions and guide execution.
- Go-Getter with an Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are a self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Acumen: A strong understanding of the technical aspects of R&D processes and services, along with their key financial metrics.
- Cloud Expertise: Deep understanding of public cloud services, capacity management, and forecasting processes.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for R&D leadership.
