Work·up (noun)

  • a diagnostic examination of a patient
  • a period of training or preparation, typically for a specific operation

The company

WorkUp is a software platform focused on providing health systems the tools they need to expand, engage and convert their clinical talent pipeline.

Healthcare is facing a dire clinical workforce shortage. More than 20% of clinical healthcare jobs go unfilled, resulting in high cost temporary staffing, delayed services, and even facility closings. This is a challenge the healthcare system is underprepared to face.

On the flip side, the next generation of talent is seeking careers (not just jobs), and is looking to partner with their employers on career paths that result in ever increasing skills, impact, and quality of life.

WorkUp is led by a trio of entrepreneurs who’ve collectively launched and scaled five successful tech platforms. We’re excited to build tools to help providers and talent co-invest in the skills needed for tomorrow’s healthcare. WorkUp is backed by accomplished investors at Menlo Ventures and Fika Ventures.

The role

WorkUp is looking for a passionate and experienced Product Designer to join the founding team. The Designer will analyze stakeholder workflows, identify opportunities to solve problems, and help create simple, effective tools for our users. The Designer will collaborate on our product vision, test that vision with end users, and continually improve the tools we deliver. They will partner closely with product & engineering to deliver against our users’ current and future needs.

This position’s primary goal will be to ensure our talent, education, and provider end users have powerful, intuitive tools to accomplish their goals in the most efficient and pain free way possible. To accomplish this, the ideal candidate will be a systems-level design thinker, with strong user instincts and outstanding design intuition. They must also be capable of getting their hands dirty, designing functionality and running tests with end-users to confirm and refine concepts. Finally, the Designer should excel in a collaborative early-stage environment, helping shape both a best in class product and working experience.

What you'll do

  • Manage the design process from end to end
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and our CEO to bring our product and organization to life
  • Transform partner & user objectives into compelling products that are simple, intuitive, effective and feasible to build
  • Manage all design resources, where relevant, to ensure that they are engaged and productive
  • Clearly present your designs, vision, and rationale to internal and external stakeholders
  • Help develop and promulgate WorkUp’s culture to create an amazing product and place to work
