The Workday People Technology Lead serves as Contentsquare's experienced Workday technical expert within the People Operations & Technology team. This highly technical role is responsible for architecting advanced system configurations, developing complex integrations, building sophisticated reporting frameworks, and leading technical problem-solving across our Workday platform.
You will lead system configuration, business process design, reporting and analytics, and integration projects while partnering closely with People Operations specialists, IT, Finance, Legal, and cross-functional stakeholders globally to deliver scalable, data-driven People technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Workday platform administration design and serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert for Workday HCM configuration, security architecture, and system optimization across all modules. Architect advanced configurations including complex calculated fields with custom validations, conditional business process logic, and sophisticated role-based security frameworks..
- Design, configure, and continuously improve Workday business processes to streamline HR operations, enhance user experience, and enable scalable global growth including supporting acquisitions and new market expansions. Build advanced workflows with dynamic approval routing, event-triggered notifications, exception handling, and conditional logic to support complex international requirements..
- Manage all Workday integrations with payroll providers, benefits systems, and third-party HR tools using EIB, Core Connectors, and REST/SOAP APIs to ensure seamless data flow and maintain exceptional data integrity across systems. Develop integration error handling, retry logic, and data validation frameworks to ensure high reliability..
- Partner with People Operations, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and architecture solutions while managing semi-annual Workday releases and ongoing system enhancements. Conduct technical analysis of releases, assess feature impacts, and perform regression testing in sandbox environments..
- Implement advanced security configurations including role-based access controls, domain security policies, user-based security assignments, and security group inheritance to enforce appropriate data access across complex organizational structures..
- Develop and maintain integration specifications, data mapping documentation, API documentation, security role matrices, and system architecture diagrams to support knowledge transfer and system sustainability..
- Optimize Workday system performance through query optimization, report performance tuning, and efficient business process design to maintain optimal user experience..
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system issues, utilizing Workday's debugging tools, business process history, integration logs, and tenant management capabilities..
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of deep technical experience configuring and administering Workday HCM with expert-level knowledge of Workday's data model, object relationships, and system architecture..
- Advanced proficiency with Workday business process framework including complex conditional logic, event rules, approval chains, and business process security..
- Expert-level Workday reporting skills including custom reports, advanced reports, matrix reports, composite reports, and conditional logic..
- Strong experience with Workday integration tools including EIB template creation, Core Connector configuration, Web Services (SOAP/REST), and Workday Studio for complex integrations..
- Deep understanding of Workday security architecture including domain security, role-based security, security groups, business process security, and security policy framework..
- Proficiency with Workday tenant management, sandbox environments, configuration migration, and release management processes..
