About the role

In the Communication Platform team, we are dedicated to creating scalable systems that facilitate member communications across various channels, including email, push notifications, SMS, and in-app messaging. As a small and nimble team, each person has a profound impact on the experience of each of our millions of users.

In this role, your responsibilities would encompass full-stack development. This involves not only constructing the backend infrastructure but also shaping the user interface for both our end users and internal content creators.

This role is structured as a 3 month engagement. The starting hourly rate offered for this role and target level of experience will begin at $34 and up to $49. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

• Design, develop, test, release, and scale changes to our mobile and backend architecture
• Collaborate effectively with the cross functional team to solve complex problems within the team domain
• Develop thoroughly tested code and conduct quality assurance on all new code
• Work in a team as well as independently to deliver on goals to accelerate development velocity while delivering the best experience to our members

To thrive in this role, you have

• Experience in backend development and frameworks (Bonus: GraphQL, Ruby)
• Experience in mobile development and frameworks (Bonus: React Native)
• Experience working cross functionally and collaborating well with team members
• Understanding of architectural patterns of large production services built for scale. Ability to safely make changes without disrupting and introducing regressions to millions of users.
• A passion for learning and sharing knowledge alongside teammates, with self-motivation and keen attention to detail
• A strong empathy for the users of the products you create
