Position Overview
The Senior Group Product Manager is responsible for defining, delivering, and scaling platform capabilities that enable trusted AI experiences across the Paylocity platform. This role owns strategy and execution across a portfolio of AI capabilities that assist users, automate workflows, generate insights, and drive business outcomes for our customers.
As a senior product leader, you will lead and develop a team of Product Managers and partner closely with Engineering, Data, Design, Legal, Security, and Go-To-Market teams. You will help translate strategic objectives into clear program initiatives, align teams on outcomes and sequencing, and drive consistent execution from discovery through launch and iteration.
This role requires strong product judgment, fluency in modern AI and data platform concepts, and proven success leading teams to deliver complex, cross-cutting platform capabilities in a regulated enterprise environment.

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $155,000/yr - $220,700/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location. Product Strategy & Vision
- Define and execute customer-centric product strategies that deliver trusted AI experiences as part of the Paylocity platform which drive customer value across domain applications for IT, Finance, and HR
- Identify high impact opportunities to co-create innovative solutions with customers that leverage AI capabilities and trusted data practices
- Clearly articulate the value of AI features to customers, executives, sales, and customer success teams
- Build business cases for key initiatives, ensuring alignment on vision, customer value, user experience, success metrics, and total cost of ownership.
- Translate strategic objectives into a set of sequenced program initiatives with clear scope, resourcing assumptions, risks, dependencies, and measurable outcomes
- Lead a portfolio of platform initiatives from concept through launch and iteration, ensuring clear outcomes, milestones, and accountability
- Oversee program execution across the portfolio—driving delivery, removing roadblocks, and actively managing risks and dependencies
- Partner with Engineering, Data, and Security to translate capabilities into reliable, scalable product experiences—balancing innovation with privacy, compliance, and enterprise-grade quality
- Ensure effective use of product development lifecycle processes by keeping JIRA up to date, preparing executive status presentations, obtaining market feedback in early access programs, and driving launch/GTM teams toward key business objectives.
- Drive outcomes and success metrics - and learning-oriented operating feedback loops using metrics, experimentation, and post-launch iteration
- Promote adoption of platform capabilities to enhance customer value while reducing operational and compliance risk
- Align cross-functional partners (Engineering, Design, Data, Legal, Security, and Go-To-Market) on outcomes, sequencing, and launch readiness.
- Manage, coach, and develop Product Managers across platform domains; ensure strong discovery, clear requirements, and high-quality decision making
- Set clear expectations, priorities, and standards for product excellence
- Lead, coach, manage, and develop a team of Product Managers; set clear expectations, strengthen product craft, foster a culture of innovation, and support career growth
- Act as a multiplier by establishing reusable patterns, frameworks, and best practices for AI product development
- Communicate strategy, progress, and tradeoffs to senior leadership; run effective portfolio reviews and adjust plans based on business trends and customer insights
- Demonstrate fluency in customer experience, AI technology, and SaaS business models
- Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance to ensure responsible AI usage and effective data governance and retention practices
- Define guardrails for data usage and lifecycle management (classification, access controls, retention policies), as well as explainability, human-in-the-loop workflows, and reliability
- Evaluate AI vendor offerings, models, and platforms with a strong risk and ROI lens
- Communicate AI limitations clearly and honestly to internal and external stakeholders
- Customer & Market Insight
- Deeply understand customer pain points and how AI can improve the customer experience and provide business outcomes for our clients
- Monitor market trends, competitor capabilities, and emerging AI technologies
- Incorporate feedback from customers, sales, support, and implementation teams into
- BS degree or higher in related field.
- 7+ years of experience in product management or a related field, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role within a fast-paced SaaS environment.
- Demonstrated experience shipping AI-enabled, data-driven, or platform products in a B2B SaaS environment. Note these should be external products that operate at scale.
- Strong understanding of modern AI concepts (e.g., LLMs, RAG, agents, automation, analytics) at a product level
- Proven ability to lead and scale product teams
- Ability to successfully interface with stakeholders (technical and non-technical) at all levels, with exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Experience working cross functionally with engineering, data, design, and GTM teams
- Proven success in developing product vision and strategy, working from customer needs
- Strong track record of guiding a product’s lifecycle through strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and adaptability to change.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to relate produce metrics to business outcomes.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to leverage feedback loops to improve AI performance
- Experience collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure alignment on customer-focused product strategies.
- Experience managing competing priorities and aligning multiple areas of the business around common goals.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and secure buy-in on product strategies.
- Experience reporting on progress in business reviews and surfacing necessary adjustments based on data insights.
- A strong sense of curiosity, with a passion for innovation, continuous learning, and staying ahead of industry trends.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment
