What problems are we solving?

We're on a mission to modernize finance for construction, an industry that employs 1 out of every 10 workers, but lacks good software tools to get the job done. Payments in construction are fundamentally broken — the antiquated billing process hasn't evolved in decades, and construction is one of the slowest industries to get paid in. We've found a unique wedge into this huge market and are growing quickly.

Why are we building this?

Millions of hardworking people are affected by this broken system — in turn making construction more expensive and inefficient for society every year. When everyone up and down the chain is on the same page with payments, contractors can focus on actually building, instead of mountains of paperwork. We’re reimagining construction finance to help contractors get paid, grow their business, and build a better future for all of us.

The Role

The People Ops Manager’s mission is to enable Siteline’s successful growth. You’ll wear many hats — from people operations/HR to culture, compliance, and whatever is necessary to keep business operations running smoothly and creating the best environment for the team to do great work.

We’re looking for an experienced “people person” with great operational chops who can work with leadership on setting policy, and own process, communication, and administration across multiple areas at this fast-growing, early-stage startup. You’re someone who enjoys applying your skillset and experience to both people/organizational and day-to-day operations challenges alike.

This job can be located anywhere in the US, and requires occasional travel (e.g. 1-2 brief visits annually to San Francisco). Our team is currently about 2/3 remote in the US & Canada, and about 1/3 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Onboarding new employees
  • Offboarding departing employees
  • Benefits administration and troubleshooting
  • Employee and team engagement; celebrations; annual team offsite and other events
  • Setting team policies (e.g. leave, PTO), along with leadership
  • Handle employee issues as they arise, along with management and Legal
  • Insurance enrollment and renewal. This includes health, worker’s comp, disability, business, and D&O.
  • State and local employment compliance, sales/excise tax, business registration. Compliance training for employees (we use Ethena).
  • Manage physical goods including employee swag and laptops
  • Virtual mailbox management

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience. You have 3 to 5+ years experience working in People Ops. You’ve owned some or all HR systems (e.g. payroll, benefits) at a company and have driven multiple successful vendor selection and implementation processes in the past.
  • Great communicator. You create clarity where there was previously confusion. You know how to translate messaging into the easiest to understand, friendliest version possible, and also how to translate to different groups effectively.
  • Collaborative. Partner with individuals, teams, and leaders.
  • Organized & efficient. You don’t know what it means to drop a ball. You turn chaos into order when it comes to documentation. You are extremely effective & efficient with your time.
  • Operational excellence. You consistently produce simple, effective solutions to problems that are not always easy. You are frequently considered an expert on the team in certain systems — both within the PeopleOps sphere, and sometimes outside that sphere as well. You’re probably a power user of tools like Excel/gSheets, Notion, and Slack.
  • Proactive self-starter. You spot opportunities to make things better and take ownership over them. You are a confident project manager who can manage multiple stakeholders across multiple projects within a fast-changing environment without much oversight.
  • People-oriented. You are curious, empathetic, and energetic around other people. You have a track record in thoughtfully balancing supporting individuals and what’s best for the whole team and company.
  • Discretion and good judgment. You will come across or handle some confidential matters, and can be completely trusted with sensitive information. You respect all individuals and are frequently a trusted 3rd party when conflicts arises.

Bonus Points

  • Team event planning experience
  • Candidate sourcing experience

Company values

Move Quickly, Together
Speed is our advantage, but alignment is our path to victory. We will go farthest, fastest if we work in unison. Prioritize the mission, establish clear owners and deliverables, and execute with confidence.
Reach for the Sky
We are curious, open-minded, and courageous. We challenge ourselves and each other to ask more questions, push boundaries, and deliver excellence every day.
Run Lean
Construction is a scrappy industry where companies must do more with less. Same here. Operate efficiently, optimize strategically, and always get the most bang for our buck.
Be the Steel
Builds fail when the foundation is faulty. The same is true for us. Exercise good judgment, deliver on your commitments, and know your capacity—every base has its threshold, after all. Most importantly, back your teammates. We’re stronger than reinforced concrete when we support each other.
Build Our Fanbase
Our mission is to grow the size of the pie for everyone in construction. We only achieve that audacious goal if we keep our customers front and center. Work tenaciously to build smarter systems that solve real problems for our customers, positively impact their businesses and lives, and make them loyal fans.
Shoot Straight
We speak directly, candidly, and respectfully. We prioritize transparency, err on over-communicating, and understand that differing opinions and perspectives are part of a healthy company. Ultimately, it’s okay to disagree with—but still commit to—the chosen direction.
At Siteline, we're looking for people with passion, grit, and integrity. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns. We know that diverse perspectives foster the innovation we need to be successful, and we are committed to building a team that encompasses a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and skills. Join us.
