About the Role
As our first Director of Data, you will play a critical role in shaping and developing our data products and analytics offerings and help Particle Health continue to develop its machine learning systems and data pipelines, focusing on delivering revenue-generating products and features, with a particular focus across four core market segments.
This role will manage a team of six including data engineers and data scientists. The Director of Data will work closely with the product team to guide the company's roadmap and strategy as it relates to artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics, data engineering, and data warehousing strategies.
This will be a hybrid role for our NYC office.
What You’ll Do
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of data engineers and data scientists
- Assure the successful development, implementation, and maintenance of our data architecture, infrastructure, and pipelines, ensuring that data is accessible, accurate, and reliable
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including marketing, finance, sales, product, and operations teams, to identify opportunities for data enhancement and meet business requirements
- Lead the design, build, and launch of new data models and data pipelines in production
- Design and Implement Machine Learning Algorithms on top of both structured and unstructured data that support key business objectives
- Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, engineering, modeling, visualization, and communication deliverables
- Oversee the design and enforcement of a data governance program that ensures data integrity and monitoring while also ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations
- Assess team capacity against business goals and be prepared to make value-based arguments to allocate capacity to the highest priority work.
- Stay current with the latest data engineering technologies, and best practices, and collaborate with technical leads to determine necessary infrastructure changes and improvements
What We Look For
- 8+ years of professional experience in technical roles, such as solutions architecture or software engineering, with the ability to engage deeply with technical teams and customers
- Experience working in the healthcare industry, with a strong understanding of medical records, health data security, and other relevant domain-specific regulations
- Adept at communication and influence across functional teams throughout all levels of the organization
- Confirmed experience leading teams and developing high-performing teams
- Strong grasp of experimental design, A/B Testing, and advanced statistical analysis
- Demonstrated Experience in designing and executing algorithmic development of key value-driving insights.
- Strong knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages (proficient experience with Python, R, Mojo, etc
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and complexity to take calculated risks to solve problems, forge new paths for growth, and achieve challenging goals.
- Demonstrated success in driving analytics strategy, execution, and adoption, ideally within a healthcare or healthcare technology context

- Plan and estimate the technical needs to execute against the product roadmap for Q1 & Q2 2024 initiatives
- Establish strong working partnerships with Senior Leadership, Product, CS, & Sales teams.
