Position Summary
Harness is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to be an integral part of the global accounting operations team. This position will be based in Bangalore,India and will be reporting to the Regional Controller. In this role, your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth running of the day to day accounting operations of our entity in India. You will be our source of knowledge for everything to do with India accounting: Local bookkeeping and accounting regulations (IGAAP), local submissions to authorities, Statutory FS audit and tax returns. You will provide ideas and help brainstorm on process standardization, automation, and improvement in all aspects of accounting. You are expected to collaborate with cross functional business partners to build partnerships and efficiency. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is self-sufficient, possesses a keen attention to detail, and has a curiosity and desire to improve processes and systems for scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end accounting operations for India.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Manage Month end close process for India.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual local and tax filings to the relevant authorities as required (GST, TDS etc)
- Lead yearly statutory audit and FS and CIT return submissions.
- Act as a source of knowledge for all local accounting and bookkeeping compliances.
- Manage accounting staff including recruitment and training of staff when necessary.
- Review and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and security.
- Manage relationships with all stakeholders and foster strong collaboration with the rest of the Accounting and Finance Teams.
Required Qualifications/What You Need to Succeed:
- CPA (or equivalent).
- 5-10 years of accounting/general ledger experience with an emphasis knowledge of accounting related requirements and regulations in India.
- Experience with NetSuite is required. Expensify/Airbase/Zip experience is a plus.
- Proven experience in managing a team.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently on regular routine assignments, including managing time to meet critical deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as month-end, quarter-end and year-end.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft business suite with strong Excel/Googlesheets skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Work Location/Work Hours:
This is a hybrid role with 3 days on-site in our Harness’s Bangalore office.
Flexible working hours with an overlapping of 2-3 hours to US business hours to collaborate with the global accounting team and global business partners.
