Company Overview
Eve is an industry leader in legal tech, empowering plaintiff attorneys with AI-driven solutions to achieve better outcomes for their clients. Our core values—Excellence, Visionary Innovation, and Elevation—drive everything we do. We are committed to providing tools that transform the legal industry and support our clients' success at every step. Targeting a total addressable market (TAM) of over $500 billion, we are positioned at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry.
Outcomes
- Establish Eve's design system, standards, and craft bar. Build the foundational design system, interaction patterns, and visual language that make Eve products feel cohesive and intentional. Define what "great" looks like and create the artifacts (components, guidelines, crit frameworks) that make it repeatable.
- Build and develop the design team. Recruit, mentor, and grow designers. Run effective crits and reviews. Create an environment where designers do the best work of their careers. As the team grows, step into the Head of Design role and own the design org.
- Own and ship category-defining design across the core product and new 0→1 bets. Take full ownership of design for Eve's existing product surface—raising the quality bar on what's already in customers' hands—while simultaneously leading design for new product launches and AI agent experiences. Drive UX quality from discovery through launch. The products you touch should feel meaningfully better—simpler, more intuitive, more trustworthy—than anything else in legal tech.
- Champion the customer and bring the outside in. Own the customer empathy muscle for the design team. Run or facilitate user research, synthesize insights, and ensure the team is building for how lawyers actually work—not how we imagine they work.
- Partner deeply with Product and Engineering to accelerate delivery. Embed in the product development process as a true peer to PM and Eng. Reduce cycle times through design-ready specs, async crits, and front-loaded UX decisions. Be the person who unblocks, not the person who bottlenecks.
Competencies
- Exceptional product design craft & taste. Has a portfolio of shipped products that demonstrate world-class interaction design, information architecture, and visual quality. Can take a complex, data-heavy enterprise workflow and make it feel simple and inevitable. Knows when to be opinionated and when to get out of the user's way.
- End-to-end design ownership & 0→1 execution. Track record of leading design for products from ambiguous problem space through shipped, adopted product. Drives discovery, prototyping, design partnerships, and iteration. Doesn't wait for perfect specs—shapes the problem alongside product and eng.
- Design leadership & team building (player/coach). Can simultaneously ship high-quality IC work while mentoring, hiring, and developing other designers. Runs effective design crits that elevate craft without demoralizing people. Sets standards through their own work, not just through process.
- Design systems & scalable foundations. Has built or significantly evolved a design system at a growth-stage company. Understands component architecture, token systems, and documentation well enough to create foundations that scale with the team and product surface area.
- Customer research & insight generation. Knows how to run lightweight, high-signal research (interviews, usability tests, workflow observations) that directly informs product decisions. Synthesizes findings into actionable frameworks, not just slide decks.
- Enterprise B2B design & domain fluency. Deep experience designing for complex enterprise workflows—not consumer apps. Understands the constraints of professional users who can't afford errors: legal, financial, healthcare, or similar high-stakes domains. Respects the complexity of the work while relentlessly simplifying the interface.
- AI/LLM product design fluency. Has designed for non-deterministic systems—chat interfaces, agent UX, human-in-the-loop workflows, trust and transparency patterns. Understands the unique UX challenges of LLM-powered products: managing user trust when outputs are probabilistic, designing for AI errors and hallucinations, moving beyond the chat paradigm into proactive and embedded AI experiences.
- Cross-functional partnership & communication. Earns trust with Product, Engineering, and GTM as a strategic thought partner, not just a pixel-pusher. Communicates design rationale with clarity and conviction. Comfortable presenting to customers, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
