About the role

Our HRBP team plays an integral role in aligning our people and business priorities. We strive to be approachable and accessible to all, and we partner with leaders on the shared goal of building teams and processes that support employees at scale.

We’re a team with a broad range of HR knowledge, always growing and learning, looking to each other and the HR community for inspiration and guidance. As a member of the team you’ll have the opportunity to jump right in and partner with leaders, managers, and employees across your teams, influencing all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $110,000 - $130,000

A day in the life

  • Advise and partner with leaders and managers on all things people-related, such as organization planning, compensation reviews, talent management, employee relations, career development, and other people strategy items
  • Act as a resource and advisor to employees, fostering trust through the application of clear HR policies and systems, and offering support through all phases of the employee lifecycle
  • Partner closely with the Recruiting team on understanding capabilities required and to drive hiring efficiencies across the groups you support
  • Collaborate with HR peers & broader People team on talent development initiatives, and DEIB programming
  • Play a key role in ongoing People processes and projects, ensuring on-time and effective delivery

What we’re looking for

  • HR Business Partner experience working with client groups to navigate the complex needs of dynamic teams, working with multiple stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Proficient in translating business priorities into practical human resources strategies that can be implemented to help the business achieve its priorities
  • A proven bias towards action - resourceful, execution oriented, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment, all while handling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • A bias towards teamwork and collaboration - communicating effectively and often with peers, socializing work, and managing change with empathy
  • An open and friendly communication style, collaboration-centric, with an ability to approach all situations with an empathetic mindset, yet strong decision making
  • Strong experience partnering closely with Senior Leadership of a dynamic organization

What happens next

In the interview process, we’ll look to learn more about your skills, experiences, capabilities, and motivators. Many of our questions will be aimed at understanding how you might operate here at Betterment. Depending on the role, we may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, as we want to collect a robust set of data points to better inform our decisions.

On average, it takes us around 3-5 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 2-3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision. Please note that, as we usually receive an overwhelming number of applications for open positions, we’re unable to offer individual feedback during the interview process.
