About the Role

As the Director of R&D Operations at our Enterprise SaaS business, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our R&D organization. You will be responsible for overseeing and aligning the operational aspects of the R&D department. This includes the cross-divisional ownership of the employee journey within R&D, contributing to talent strategy, and ensuring operational excellence in our engineering processes.

What You Will Do

• Cross-Divisional Leadership: Lead initiatives to optimize the employee journey across multiple product divisions. This involves close collaboration with the People department to enhance the experience and productivity of our R&D personnel.
• Operational Excellence: Implement and maintain a consistent operating system across standing teams, including the use of tools like Jira for sprint planning, standups, and overall project management.
• Talent and Hiring Strategy: Work in conjunction with the People department to define roles, manage compensation, and develop organizational structures that align with our geo strategy and business objectives.
• R&D Enablement & Onboarding: Oversee the enablement and onboarding processes for engineers, aiming to reduce the time to first code check-in and ensuring proficiency in code readability.
• Knowledge Management: Act as the knowledge manager for R&D, maintaining and improving Confluence as a central repository for all R&D-related information.
• R&D Execution Monitoring: Ensure the adherence of standing teams to a consistent process, monitoring the percentage of teams using this process effectively.
• Business Operations Collaboration: Collaborate with the Finance department on R&D business metrics, focusing on productivity analysis, margin and cost programs, and investment strategies.
• Metrics to Drive:
  • Time to first code check-in and time to code readability review.
  • Consistency and effectiveness of R&D operating processes.
  • Employee journey satisfaction and productivity within R&D.
  • Effectiveness of talent and hiring strategies.

Must Haves

• Proven experience in R&D operations, ideally in a SaaS or technology-focused environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
