We are seeking a highly-skilled and enthusiastic Scientist or Senior Scientist to join Vilya’s Chemistry team in South San Francisco. This full-time onsite position will play a key role in expanding our platform technology and advancing orally available macrocycles into the clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, synthesis, purification and characterization of high value building blocks, intermediates, and macrocycles
• Evaluation and implementation of state of the art synthetic methodologies for the design and synthesis of novel chemical structures
• Optimization of chemical matter for key parameters including solubility, permeability, potency, stability, and pharmacokinetics
• Advancement of discovery projects through effective collaboration and communication with all members of the Vilya team
• May assist with management of CROs
• May have the opportunity to manage one or more direct reports
• Provide regular progress updates to the chemistry and cross-functional research teams
• Effective written communication as required for patent filings, company reports and scientific publications
• Maintain an accurate and detailed electronic lab notebook
• Adherence to all safety and environmental regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• PhD in organic or medicinal chemistry
• 0-10 years post-PhD experience in an academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical setting
• Expertise in the synthesis, purification, and characterization of complex organic small molecules including methodology development and reaction optimization
• Experience with solution- and/or solid-phase peptide synthesis is preferred
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong time management and multitasking skills
• Impeccable scientific integrity
• Scientifically curious and eager to learn
• Positive attitude and willingness to do whatever is needed to meet deliverables and advance projects
• Desire to help build a high-functioning, collaborative chemistry team
