As a member of our small but mighty product engineering team, you'll work closely with our cross-functional product team to conceptualize, implement, and ship features from start to finish. Whether iterating on core workflows, driving product initiatives, or building critical infrastructure, you'll be thinking nonstop about how to improve our customers' experience and scale the product. You'll be a technical leader across our infrastructure, backend, and web app. And, you'll be an early member of the Siteline team and lend your unique voice and perspective to the shaping of not just the product, but the company itself.

Siteline is headquartered in San Francisco, with a sunny downtown office several blocks from the Montgomery Muni/Bart station. We value collaboration, this position is based in our San Francisco HQ where our eng team works together in-office 3-4 days a week. We're big believers in trust and in a healthy work/life balance: we want you to be productive and connected with the team, but we're not here to micromanage.

🎒 Responsibilities

• Technical leadership: Employ software engineering best practices to ensure our codebase remains well-tested and bug-free. As an early engineer, you’ll have a prominent voice in engineering decisions and technical direction across the stack.
• Product development: Work closely with the engineering and product team to plan, architect, and implement features. Your work will lean heavily toward the backend and API, but you’ll collaborate closely with frontend engineers and always think holistically about the product.
• Integrations: Build and maintain robust integrations with third-party platforms—some modern and well-documented, others more outdated and opaque. You’ll grow to lead the team’s integrations ecosystem, and be the company’s champion and expert on our external-facing systems and solutions.
• Systems design: Independently drive decisions on software architecture, data modeling, and infrastructure that scale with our customer base and perform reliably for our users.
• Team building: Be an active part of shaping Siteline's culture, helping to recruit and mentor new team members and cultivating a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

👋 What We're Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional software experience, including meaningful backend experience and exposure to full-stack work. You've designed complex backend systems, worked with internal and external APIs, and shipped to real customers on a regular basis.
• Modern tech: Familiarity working with Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and React.
• Problem solver: You're good at understanding and breaking down complex problems. You are resourceful and comfortable with ambiguity, and can make good decisions and forward progress even when requirements are unclear.
