You will partner and develop meaningful relationships with the Executive team, Business leaders, and the broader People team on your quest to solve the business problems that drive ownership and equity in the greater ecosystem.

The Problems You’ll Solve

As a dynamic HR leader with a passion for transforming challenges into opportunities, you will consult with the leadership team and work closely with the broader People Team to execute HR strategies that help build a high performing team and culture at Carta.

A few other things you’ll do:

  • Learn the Carta business inside and out so you can be a strategic advisor on all things talent and people
  • Drive global HR functional excellence and process improvement
  • Provide strategic partnership and counsel to the Carta executive leadership team
  • Develop and drive the People strategy to meet our aggressive business goals
  • Partner with the business to execute on key People initiatives (performance management, compensation, benefits, development programs, etc)
  • Provide guidance and input on workforce planning, succession planning, compensation, promotions, lateral transfers, leveling, and benchmarking
  • Build strong relationships with employees, management, and the leadership team
  • Act as an employee champion and change agent, proactively communicating needs with our broader People team and senior leadership
  • Successfully influence others by providing direction, knowledge, and support to create a high-performing organization
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Ensure proactive compliance with all labor, wage, and health and safety laws
  • Provide coaching to the business and help set the People priorities
  • Roll up your sleeves and dive into the high volume of daily operational HR needs, working with our HR operations team to streamline and optimize workflows to gain efficiencies and improve the employee experience
  • Oversee and drive global and local consistency by collaborating with our head of ER to manage and resolve employee relations issues

About You

  • You are a master of your craft. You have at least 12 years of HRBP and/or HR experience and you worked in a Financial Services or Fintech company in the last 5 years (preferred).
  • You strive for strategic and effective partnership with the People Team COEs, cross-functional partners, etc.
  • You have outstanding people skills. You have high emotional intelligence and exceptional empathy. You quickly and easily build trust with business stakeholders and employees.
  • You lead with data. You know how to generate a hypothesis and you love using data to tell stories that help inform the talent strategy.
  • You are comfortable coaching executives and delivering feedback.
  • You are highly organized. You pay close attention to detail and you are skilled at sequencing competing priorities quickly.
  • You bias to action. You move fast. You are fearless when trying something new. You are comfortable taking on risk in pursuit of a new idea, because the biggest risk in our business is missing a good idea. You ask what could go right, and relentlessly find the fastest path to value.
  • You seek to simplify. You use your intellectual firepower to create simple and elegant solutions to complex problems. In everything you do, you strive to make things as simple as possible, but no simpler.
  • You embrace constraints. You are gritty. You would rather operate with constraints than abundance because constraints breed ingenuity, resourcefulness, and creativity. When you start a project you ask how much you can accomplish in a certain timeframe or budget, not how much time or budget you need to accomplish the project.
  • You optimize first derivatives. Progress matters more than perfection. While others focus on absolute value goals, you obsess over getting better every day.
  • You live our mission. You strive to create a fairer and more equitable world. You celebrate the unique strengths of others and actively seek out new and diverse perspectives. You assume the best of others and bring the best of yourself.
  • You do the right thing. Most people make decisions using an Expected Value calculation. You don’t. You make decisions by asking, “what’s the right thing to do?” Doing the right thing is how we balance competing perspectives and near-term and long-term goals.
  • You play in the open. Transparency is the checksum on integrity. You work and communicate out in the open for all to see. You don’t trade on rumors and don’t believe in secrets.
