About the Role

Abnormal Security is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Knowledge Engines Platform (KEP) team. As part of our continued growth, the KEP team will continue to be the data foundation for Abnormal products, providing reliable and scalable solutions to Abnormal teams. In order to deliver on our roadmap, you will lead a team of high-performing Software Engineers, work closely with product leaders, and deliver excellence across the board. As the needs of the team change and problems evolve over time, you will adapt the team and recruit new talent as needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of five software engineers
    • Actively manage team and individual performance, understand strengths/areas of improvement, and provide feedback with plan to get to the next level
    • Foster a healthy team environment that supports one another, encourages growth, collaboration and accountability
  • Recruiting & Hiring
    • Execute hiring strategy aligned with BESP growth plans and future team needs
    • Clearly communicate interview strategy with team and continually improve process
    • Coach and mentor team members to enable growth and professional development consistent with career goals and satisfaction
  • Team Execution
    • Understand and own execution of team quarterly plans to deliver on objectives on time
    • Ensure effective communication on projects and updates across the team and within the organization
    • Ensure best software development practices are followed to optimize team performance
  • Operational Excellence
    • Build processes and tools for the team needed to handle incidents, escalations, support, and monitoring
    • Track team performance and team health with operating metrics
    • Review efficacy of changes implemented and corresponding changes to team metrics
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Lead the team in personal management and project management while working with the Tech Lead to align on priorities, projects, and engineering items
    • Coordinate with leadership across organization to resolve cross team dependencies and align on objectives
    • Collaborate closely with PM and TL on strategy, roadmap, team delivery on goals

Must Have Skills

  • 2+ years of engineering management experience, leading a team of 4+ engineers building scalable enterprise-class customer-facing products
  • 6+ years of product development leadership experience (as a lead engineer or engineering manager) working with cross-functional counterparts to build enterprise class customer-facing products
  • 2+ years leading full stack teams building scalable web applications with css, javascript, Django+Python
  • Experience developing and running team processes to promote consistency, quality, and quantity of work outputted by the team
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional stakeholders and business leaders for strategic alignment

Nice to Have Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related engineering field
  • Prior experience at a B2B SaaS company
  • Prior startup experience
