Manufacturing Process Engineer at Eero

Job overview:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for working with eero’s contract manufacturer’s to continually improve processes to reduce cost and improve quality. This role starts from the first development builds at the production facility and continues through sustaining production until product is no longer supported by eero warranty. A broad scope is required, which spans numerous aspects of manufacturing and operations, including SMT process control, stencil approval, board assembly process, system assembly, factory bone pile debug processes, product configuration, and new process qualification.

What you’ll do:

Engage with OEM manufacturing partners to develop, ramp, and introduce products. Develop rapport with partners and gain detailed knowledge of "how the factory works” with its capabilities and limitations
Approve stencil design and SMT process at the CM site
Approve production line including cycle times, line layout, build readiness, and assembly fixture qualification at the CM
Be a data-driven expert in process capability analysis and qualification. Qualify automated processes, manual processes, and understand cost, quality, and schedule tradeoffs
Drive SOP and WI creation, and implement improvements across production from kitting through pack-out
Define the production line for final assembly, test, and pack-out
Maintain quality process capability through monitoring and design of experiments
Lead supplier NPI support – while in the region, provide the in-person leadership required to bring a product to market
Provide support coverage for other products and suppliers in the region – willingness to engage with suppliers outside your normal skillset to drive issue resolution
Manage China-based engineering teams remotely
Communicate project status updates to various project stakeholders, including team members and executives within eero as well as OEMs
Always push the leading edge of innovation and excellence in eero products and manufacturing processes
Demonstrate exceptional ability to build relationships and exert effective influence in a matrix organization

We’re looking for someone who has:

5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
A willingness to travel to China 2-3 weeks per quarter
4+ years of experience in manufacturing operations with an overseas CM; experience in consumer electronics is a plus
2+ years in PCB fabrication (rigid, flex, embedded)
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; Master will be a plus
Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes; experience with RF products will be a plus
Exceptional communication skills (in English, Mandarin is a plus) - verbal, written and technical communication
