About the Role
As a software engineer on Movement you will build software solutions that help cities solve challenges in modern urban areas like traffic congestion, accessibility of transportation, safety, environment, and others. You will work closely with other teams at Uber, like New Mobility, or Rides to build scalable and reliable data sharing systems. You will collaborate with product, public policy, security engineering, and design to ensure the business value, privacy compliance, and usability of our solutions. You will also directly have a chance to interact with our customers to clarify technical specifications and solve technical issues in order to create meaningful solutions.

About the Team
Uber Movement shares anonymized data aggregated from over ten billion trips to help urban planning around the world. We help 30+ cities understand how people move through the physical world through travel times, segment-level speeds, road traffic, and mobility of electric bicycles and scooters. Besides the movement dashboard, we also provide secure data sharing APIs to meet the regulatory compliance (Open Mobility Foundation). Our team believes in the power of open data and data sharing standards (Urban Computing Foundation), and long-term solutions to strengthen partnership with the cities (NACTO data sharing, SharedStreets Pilot). We also support the development of the open source tool for geospatial analysis Kepler.gl.
As a team we are a diverse, open minded, and kind group of engineers and entrepreneurs who care about each other's well being and growth. We like to jump on adventures together, especially exploring bakeries, coffee shops, and food trucks! We collaborate with our broader team, Data Visualization, to organize hackathons, and engage with the public community by hosting meetups in SF and in NYC (youtube recordings).
At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.
We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.
