Senior Software Engineer (Machine Learning) at Carta
United States of America
Carta is hiring experienced software engineers at the Senior, Staff, Senior Staff, and Principal levels in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle, New York City, and Rio de Janeiro to build machine learning products and services powered by Carta’s ownership graph: the central registry of asset ownership across the globe.
As a machine learning engineer at Carta,  you’ll play a foundational role in Carta’s fast-growing Data Organization, working on one of the world’s most valuable data sets at one of the fastest-growing FinTech companies of all time. You’ll spend half your time partnering with Data Engineering to build the infrastructure to train, serve, test, and analyze predictive models across our data warehouse and in Carta’s products, and the other half working closely with domain experts across the company to build models to solve customer problems and automate internal processes.
Candidates must have strong technical skills, be excited by “zero to one” projects, and have a strong bias towards simplicity. Prior experience in FinTech is not required: our team consists of very nice people who are happy to help you learn everything you need to be successful at Carta.

At Carta, you will:

    • Define, build, scale, and maintain the machine learning infrastructure to power Carta's data products and services
    • Train and deploy predictive models in production with tools like Spark, Tensorflow, and Torch
    • Leverage your domain expertise to inform product roadmaps and help Carta expand into new markets with Machine Learning

Desired Qualifications:

    • BS/MS/PhD in computer science, machine learning, applied mathematics, or a closely related field (candidates without such a degree but with equivalent work experience are encouraged to apply: we are not snobs)
    • 5+ years of industry experience taking machine learning systems from inception to production (more junior candidates may apply for non-senior roles)
    • A collaborative attitude and a helpful personality
    • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
    • Proficiency with modern programming languages (Python, Java, Scala, SQL, etc.) and datastores (Postgres, Cassandra, HDFS, BigTable, etc.)
